An introduction to how technology affects people’s relationship with food.

The aim of this blog is not to come to a definite conclusion as to whether technology within the food industry is good or bad, but to inform the reader and whet their appetite so as to encourage global discussion. We set out to collate and examine enough information so that the reader could understand both the negative effects, and be able to mitigate them, as well as promoting the beneficial effects of technology. We aimed to be unbiased in our approach, delivering information from a micro to macro perspective. We hope to enable the reader to come to their own informed conclusion and to this end we have striven to produce the highest quality of information whilst imparting it in an engaging format.

In four blogs we have considered the development of phone apps with regards to how technology directly affects the individual’s relationship with food. We have looked at both local and global businesses and their use of, evermore, complicated technology to deliver their products. We have looked into some of the costs of our increasing appetite upon the World and the considerable effects on its poorest inhabitants.

Mankind has used technology since the dawn of time, whether it is learning how to make a fire or to use tools to kill animals or till the soil, technological advances are part of our psyche. We will, no doubt, continue to develop these skills, the question is how we can use our knowledge to enhance our lives and those of others on our planet.

We hope that you will find some of our small ideas helpful in changing the way you think about your food.

This short video gives a concise visual exploration of some of the topics that we have written about in the blogs.
